This session will share solutions to common challenges in developing to Passive House standards. We will share examples and lessons learned in developing two adaptive reuse projects – Morningside Crossing, ca. 1896, an adaptive reuse of a school+new addition+new senior center/community room and The Retirement Residence of Glassport, ca. 1929, a much larger school. With triple pane windows shipped from Ireland, old school construction unknowns and linking the old with the new, structurally, the challenges these projects faced will help your future work.
